Your must-have Vest for Fall

Fall is officially here!  Every fall my FaceBook feed is filled with pictures of the fall colors, almost everyone in Colorado heads up into the gorgeous Rocky Mountains to see all the aspens change in color…which always makes for amazing photo ops.  We were no different and decided to head up to Vail for a nice long weekend…and our first little family vacation.

The weather has still been very warm here so we haven’t really had the chance to break out clothes for fall weather yet, or if you have, you’ve probably been extra warm on these hot days. My friends that spent last weekend in Vail were hanging at the pool soaking up sun!  However this last weekend it was snowing when we arrived up in the mountains!  Yes – SNOW in September!  I was so happy because I got to break out some of the cold weather gear that I’ve been dying to wear, one of which being this amazing vest (which is currently on sale at 40% off at J Crew Factory)!

I love vests in fall because it’s an extra layer without being too bulky, and adds a little something extra to any outfit. Here are a couple of ways I styled this vest.

It was cold but we couldn’t help but explore Vail Village and take in all the beautiful fall colors.  I think it started snowing shortly after we took these pics.

How gorgeous is this scenery?   The colors are just stunning!

I love mixing patterns and the J.Crew herringbone vest pattern goes great with buffalo plaid.  I paired the vest here with a black and white buffalo plaid flannel shirt – super cozy for colder temps.  I did dark wash jeans and a neutral western-style suede bootie to finish off the look.  Of course Nordie doesn’t have my particular boot anymore (Ugg) so I linked a very similar option.

The next day I wore the same vest styled just a bit differently.  I paired it with a chambray, black leggings, my fave Zara blanket scarf (because if was FREEZING!) and black Hunter boots, all of which kept me plenty warm.

It was extra cold at the top of the mountain – brrrrr!

This one is a bit blurry, but Avalon’s outfit —- too cute!

zara-scarfThe Original Zara Blanket Scarf – this one is a rare find these days.  You’ve probably seen it all over Pinterest because the tartan print is just the perfect fall pattern, especially with the herringbone vest.  I linked an Etsy shop that is selling a look-alike.

It was so fun getting all cozied up and enjoying the amazing views Vail has to offer, along with getting some important fireside cuddles in. I think it’s become a new favorite get-away spot for us.  And in the meantime, go get this must-have vest on sale now!
