How to do Spring Fashion when it’s still cold

Everyone seems so ready for Spring’s arrival lately, am I right? But here in the 303, we get teased with beautiful, sunny days (like today) mixed in with snow storms when Spring starts approaching. I mean, last year we got snow in MAY!!! (May 19 to be exact) What?!? So how do we introduce Spring Fashion when it’s still freezing out?  Spring officially starts March 20, which is just a few short weeks away! So let’s get Spring-ready together!

This soft, blush peplum sweater with statement sleeves is a great piece to wear in colder temps yet still has a spring vibe because of its ever-popular blush tone. Which is a fave of mine. <3  I love the statement sleeves and it’s cozy without being a heavy sweater. I know I’ll be grabbing for this frequently this Spring. I love this piece, and ALL the other items I’m going to mention below that your closet needs for these transitional times of year.

All items from this outfit are linked at the bottom of the post. I do have to be honest, this clutch is no longer in existence sadly. I get compliments on it EVERY time I use it. It was part of the Marc Jacobs line that came to Target several years ago, anyone remember how awesome that was?  I use this one ALL the time!  And this boohoo sweater is also no longer available so options I like even MORE are linked below. And last, how awesome is this mural wall? Pat Milbery is an amazing artist making the streets of Colorado more colorful.

Items to add to your closet NOW for Spring when it’s still cold

A layering cardigan

This is a MUST all year around in my book, but especially nice to have during transitional weather. You can throw it on over a tank, cami, t-shirt, or even a long sleeve tee or chambray. I love my Topshop puff sleeve cardi in blush (currently 50% off and in stock)… it’s been my go-to lately. I love the pockets (small toys and snacks always ends up in there) and the length has a little drama because it’s a bit extra long, which I really like. But I linked some other’s I’m crushing on too. The key is picking a good neutral hue so it will go with everything! So blush, ivory, white, even tan… all great options!

Peep-toe booties

This is a MUST-HAVE in my opinion! It’s a great way to combine a boot, yet show off that fresh Spring pedi with a peep-toe. I feel like these are perfect in Spring AND in fall – so it’s just an item you must have in your closet. I have a pair of gray Tom’s peep-toe booties that I’ve worn for several seasons now – they are uber comfortable and have held up well. But I’m majorly crushing on the Vince Camuto Kensa (2nd pair below & currently 40% at Nordstrom) AND IN MY CART RIGHT NOW! 🙂

Anorak or Parka Rain Jacket

Get ready for Spring Showers! Believe it or not…these were ALL over the runways at NYFW so it’s a great item to add to your Spring Fashion want-list. BTW, I pretty much have a constant want-list going in my phone…I like to organize what I need & want so when I do have the opportunity to shop, I don’t end up buying something I don’t actually need or want. And one of these is on my current WANT list. I really want that Bernardo blush one. But the Joules one has some really fun prints too – decisions decisions.

Embellished Jeans

Another item that was all over NYFW was embellished or dressed-up jeans. So if you’re needing a new pair of jeans, get Spring fashion-forward by purchasing an embellished pair – whether with pearls or embroidery – they are a hit for Spring.

I was hesitant to buy my pearl embellished pair, but I find myself grabbing for them a LOT more than I thought I would. (STS Blue ones below) I love them! (You’ve likely seen these on my Instagram a lot!) AND they are under $40 right now (dang it, I should have waited).

Sheer/lacey Long Sleeve tops

I love a good lacey, sheer top in a pale color for Spring – there is something just so classic and crisp about it. And they are all over the place too so easy to find one you love! A few I’m eyeing are below – they all look so feminine and flirty – I can’t decide which one I want most!

I don’t know about you, but I’m saving all the items I want in my Nordstrom cart now and hoping they are still around for triple points starting on March 21! Can’t wait!

Last, here are the outfit deets…my good american jeans were WELL worth the splurge!

Happy almost Spring everyone!
