Independence Day Traditions & Outfits

Since having little ones, this holiday has become one we look forward to every year! We have celebrated the same way since Avalon was born and I honestly LOVE it! But sadly, our traditions are about to change….keep reading to find out why. But first, let me rewind a bit and tell you how we live it up on this fun holiday.

We celebrate the 4th with my sister and her family every year – she lives in the best neighborhood this time of year. First, on the morning of the 4th, there is a quick neighborhood parade with the local fire department and of course their fire truck. The parade ends at the park right behind my sisters house and then they spray all the kids with their huge fire hose. It’s SO fun you guys. The first time I saw it I felt like I was a kid again – it is SO fun. And we go prepared to get DRENCHED! Then they hand out play fire-hats and popsicles to all the kids and we take pictures on the firetruck and hang for a bit. It’s become the best tradition.

Then we hang out at my sisters house, BBQ, relax, let the cousins play & let the young babes get their naps in. At night, one of the best local fireworks show is literally right down the hill from her house – so we set up our chairs and snuggle up in blankets in her backyard, get the outdoor speakers set up with good tunes and cozy in for the show. It’s SO nice not having to head somewhere and save seats for hours on end to get a good view of a fireworks show. We absolutely LOVE it!

So why are our traditions about to change? My sister and her family are moving back to LA! (insert ugly cry face here) I’m not crying, you’re crying! So this will be our last year celebrating the 4th all together – so you better believe I’m going to treasure every single moment! And next year, we will need to create some new traditions, so I want to hear from you. What are your 4th of July traditions?  And do you want to invite my family and me along? haha

I love getting festive with our whole families outfits for the holiday. So I’d figure I’d put together a few looks for all you ladies out there. Here are some really fun, cute outfits ideas. And happy early 4th of July!

1 // Red Dotted Tank – Love the crisp red and white on this top and it would be so cute with white jeans and nude sandals.

2 // Zaley Blouse – I love how light weight this top is and would be adorable paired with distressed denim shorts.

3 // JOA Striped Jumpsuit – Gotta love an outfit that you just put on and go…love this nursing friendly jumpsuit option.

4 // PJ Salvage Pants – I’m pretty sure I’m obsessed with these pants – they look so comfy, summery, flowy and festive. Such an easy outfit with a perfect white t-shirt.

5 // Free People Tunic – I have this top and LOVE it. So flowy and breathable. It’s a great swim cover up too! But super cute paired with denim and some fun earrings.

6 // Button Front Chambray Cami – Love a chambray for summer temps, and the button front detail is awesome (and again nursing friendly) and it’s under $30!

7 // Red Stripe Jumpsuit – I love how comfy this one looks, the ruffle sleeve detail and the pant length are perfect for a summery day.

8 // Navy Eyelet Peplum Top – I’m a sucker for a good peplum! I just feel like they are so feminine and flirty. And love navy paired with white jeans – such a crisp look.

9 // Graphic Tee – Can’t ever go wrong with a graphic tee! This one is so cute.

10 // Button Down Dress – Easy & breezy – perfect dress for lots of occasions that can be dressed up or dressed down. And pair with red & blue for the 4th and you’re set!

11 // Red Striped Sandals – Add these to white jeans & a chambray and you’re set for the 4th!

12 // Tie Front Chambray – Another chambray option – because they are always a good choice, love the way this one wears, it’s soft, light weight and the tie front detail makes it on trend.

13 // Blue Statement Earrings – Adding this pop of blue can make any outfit a little more festive for the 4th. And these are so light on the ears – love them!

14 // Red Statement Earrings – Or add a pop of red, these SugarFix earrings are a BaubleBar line at Target – and not quite as comfy or as high quality as the above pair, but for the price and a short wear, they are a fun choice.

xo,

Sarah
